I was going to originally write up this really in-depth review of inFamous before I questioned whether I was writing too much. Then, I wondered if I could transfer this post I was writing in Word into WordPress. Then, I learned that Word added a bunch of tags to the WordPress post that doesn’t screw up the post, but it does make editing much more difficult. Unfortunately, I wrote up E3 conferences in Word and spent some time editing. And then I decided to site validate my blog and I noticed that it’s up to 80 thanks to all these new posts. That’s 50 more than when I started.

Right, so I was pretty much drained by the time I finished all that so here’s my quick review of inFamous:

The Good
It’s a really great game. Traversing around the city and zipping across the power lines made getting from point A to point B a fun experience. The shooting mechanic works swell and the sticky grenades are my best friend. I played through the evil path and getting the grenades that scatter caused so much beautiful destruction. The world felt nicely populated and I actually felt powerful compared to the weakling citizens of Empire City.

The Bad
The good and evil is poorly done. I wrote up early impressions and I still stand by it. While I like the option, if it actually makes me care less about the story, then they’re doing it wrong. Traversing around the city is also not nearly as fun in the beginning when you don’t have your powers. It takes way too long to get the hovering power which makes jumping from building to building so much easier. And Cole is a little too magnetic to building making falling to the ground a bit difficult. It didn’t hinder game experience too much, but it does get noticeable when trying to get to where you want to but you end up sticking to something else.

The Ugly
The game looks great but the pop-ins and outs can be bad. I could be running in one direction and have a car suddenly disappear on me. And the people tend to disappear as you turn your back only to be replaced by entirely new people. And speaking of ugly, Cole’s final evil version is pretty ugly (for good reason of course). He’s covered in blood and has these dark marks creeping up around his head. Though his ultimate powers are badass with the black lightning.

Overall
Highly recommended to any PS3 owners. It’s not a perfect game, but it’s extremely enjoyable. I just hope it doesn’t take Naughty Dog another three years to get out inFamous 2.
