Worst of all, when I thought I had a plan to combat telemarketers by using the free version of an app that blocks numbers, suddenly they decide to use a blocked number. Either the machines are getting smarter or there is actually some brains behind this crap. Not only do I get calls too, I get text messages and when I reply stop, what do they do? They send another just incase I really do want to buy a car under $500 from some random person. Sometimes I think it’s a conspiracy from the number blocker app. I can only block two numbers at a time and if I want to block more, I have to pay $12. Maybe they’re finding my number some how and getting more than two telemarkets to call me in order to pay.
But that’s a bit farfetched. Most of the time these telemarketers aren’t even real telemarketers. They aren’t selling anything. They call, hang up. They call, tell me about a website that doesn’t exist, hang up. That’s what frustrates me. I know that there are probably people who will send them money. That’s why these guys exist, because there’s profit to be made from any idiot with money to spare.
So here are the to recent numbers:
(619) 374-0181
(804) 474-6727
The first one is the one I blocked but they called back on a blocked number. They say their from cheaptrips.com and I’ve won four tickets. I’ve fallen for their scam I think in that I actually visited the website. Don’t. My guess is their whole scam is that they make at least some profit from their sponsor listings.
The next number is apparently called the Media Synergy Group. They don’t leave a message and I’ve successfully blocked at least one call from them. No more calls since, though it wouldn’t surprise me if they decide to call on a different number.
Then there’s the text-messages by the number 778-93. The first time they sent it, I replied stop. They sent one a second time just recently and updated their message saying standard rates apply. Let’s not forget that I never signed up for anything from these people or anyone involving loans, credit cards, or any of the other bullshit services they said I must’ve signed up for. I checked out their website and it leads to cashspotusa.com which I’m sure is another scam site.
Ugh, I might just buy iBlacklist. $12 is starting to seem like little money compared to the annoyance I’d be saving. I don’t care if it’s a conspiracy. They’ve won. From now on I’m just going to allow a certain few call me directly. Any number I don’t know is getting sent straight to my voicemail.
I think what pisses me off most about it though is that they always call at 8AM to 9AM when I’m trying to sleep. As much as I love my ringtone (Always Sunny in Philidelphia song), any song is unpleasent to wake up to when you don’t have to wake up.
