I’ve been unfair to television. Lately I’ve come to realize that the only reason why I think there’s nothing good on TV (with the exception of Lost) is that I don’t actively pursue any of them. I rag on shows like American Idol or whatever the new wacky and wild game shows there are, but lately I’ve been discover shows that flew under my radar. This could have to do with the fact that I don’t actually have cable and most of the shows I’m loving are from FX, Showtime and HBO, but nonetheless! I’m going to stop ragging on TV so much.

This summer I’ve caught up on Flight of the Conchords, Avatar, and most recently winning one of the top favorite spots, Dexter. Unfortunately, two of those three are over, but there are plenty of shows that are having their season premiere within a month, and it started tonight with awesome Mad Men. Soon enough, Dexter will start up again and so will one of the best comedy shows ever, Always Sunny in Philidelphia.

Then there are so many other shows I want to start watching because of all the talk such as Weeds, Entourage, True Blood and Sons of Anarchy. Though it’s more likely that I’ll be watching True Blood and SoA over Weeds and Entourage since those shows are still fairly new with only one season under their belt. It makes it a lot easier to play catch up and get excited when a new episode airs. Weeds and Entourage are a bigger investment with so many seasons to catch up on.  24 is another show I’ve always wanted to start watching but again, the large time investment. With seven seasons and 24 episodes each season, I don’t know if I’d ever leave my house again (at least for a week if I watch them back to back).

So television, I’m sorry for talking crap about you. I might get pissed off once in awhile when shows like Dead Like Me or Pushing Daisies get cancelled, but you aren’t all that bad. Though once Lost is over, it’s going to take something big to fill that void.
