Here’s a brief summary of various things I’ve wanted to talk about but haven’t gotten the time to talk about. Plus there was the issue with Dreamhost where my site was down when I wanted to post about Uncharted 2.
Uncharted 2: Absolutely an amazing game. I love games that can tell a good story. Metal Gear’s appeal to me was how much it was like a movie yet still maintained to be a game (despite how many cutscenes there were). Uncharted 2 brings it to a new level and has such balance between story and gameplay that it’s hard to ever get taken out of it. The gameplay itself is great and it feels so solid. I never once was frustrated with unfair enemy advantages or how many times an enemy can be shot (as was the case in Uncharted 1). Oh and the graphics, spectacular. I dare someone to give me a game that looks that beautiful. The previews of the game were one thing, but actually playing it… Amazing!
Sunshine (2007): I actually just got done watching this so this is a new topic. Great movie. I love Danny Boyle for 28 Days Later and now here’s another movie I gotta say was awesome. Not the perfect movie as a lot of it became predictable, but it was a fun ride, especially since there are so little sci-fi movies that don’t involve being so technologically advanced. This movie made me want to start up Dead Space again because I love the atmosphere of these kinds of space stories.
Deals on the Internet: Not a movie or game, but I just wanted to briefly touch on the subject of me spending way too much money. Just this week, I bought three games in Best Buy’s buy two get one free deal allowing me to purchase Beatles Rock Band, Ratchet and Clank Futures: A Crack In Time, and Borderlands. Have yet to receive any yet as I ordered it via their online store, but I’m excited to finally get my hands on Borderlands (plus the other two games which I’m less excited for but still did want to buy). I’ve also bought the Angel box set, my third favorite Whedon creation (first being Firefly, second being Dr. Horrible and Buffy in a weird place with me). Been waiting for it to be half off again at Amazon (many opportunities missed), but I eventually bought it for $52.99. Score. Last but not least, I bought, also for half off, the Dead Like Me DVD set which includes the unfortunate Life After Death movie. So a couple of items were cross off my “to buy someday” list plus the three games which I never expected on getting but gotta hate those impulse buys.
And I think that’s that for now. I could’ve sworn I watched more movies that I wanted to talk about, but recently I haven’t spent too much time watching movies. It felt so good to watch Sunshine because not having sat down to really enjoy a movie in weeks, I was starting to grow a bit bored with everything else I do.
