THE INSIGNIFICANT
FADE IN:
INT. BEDROOM – MORNING
ALAN, mid 30s, wakes to the sound of DRIPPING WATER coming
from his bathroom. He lies in his bed staring at the ceiling,
looking exhausted as if he had been up all night. Bags under
his eyes, hair a mess.
He looks at his alarm clock, one minute until 6AM. He looks
at it, afraid of the sound that will come shrieking out of
the clock once the time strikes. Then-
The clock strikes 6PM, the alarm lets out a SCREAM of a
woman. He panics, shuts his eyes. When he opens them again,
the alarm returns to a normal ALARM sound. Alan shuts it off
then drags himself out of bed.
INT. BATHROOM
Alan turns on the water, standing naked inside the shower. He
lets the hot water splash across his face.
INT. BEDROOM
An unknown man, covered in shadow, enters the room.
INT. BATHROOM
Alan begins to cry. The water running down his face resembles
a stream of tears.
INT. BEDROOM
The unknown man steps closer to the slightly closed bathroom
door, sound of the running shower muffling its way into the
room.
INT. BATHROOM
Alan slams his fists against the wall.
ALAN
I’m sorry! Do you hear me?! I’m
sorry!
INT. BEDROOM
The man opens the bathroom door, revealing the gun he’s
holding.
INT. BATHROOM
Alan turns towards the door, a shower curtain separating him
from the exit. The shadowy figure of the unknown man starts
to fill up his view.
ALAN
(whispering)
I said I was sorry.
Through the curtains, a bullet comes tearing through. Blood
fills the shower as it’s sent down the drain. The curtains
are pulled to the side, revealing the unknown man’s face,
looking exactly like Alan.
Alan lies motionless as his doppelganger leaves the gun in
the hands of Alan. One last look and the doppelganger leaves.
The sound of the SHOWER is replaced by the sound of RAIN.
FADE TO BLACK.

Due to being out of school, I have nothing to push me creatively anymore. As a way to resolve that, and due to the fact that I can’t trust myself daily, I want to spend some time actively writing again. As a result, I want to have a weekly concept script that will help me stay creative and keep writing. By concept script, I mean a portion of a script that might not have all the details fleshed out, an idea that is a start to an end, maybe the first of which will give a better understanding. I just need to get to get the formatting down so it doesn’t stretch the page so much as it does.
