I completely missed out on the window for blogging about the iPhone 4 but needless to say, I’ll be buying it. Hopefully I can get a pre-order in so I don’t have to actually visit the store and stand in line to get one.

But that’s not the point of this post (though I was going to go into another spiel about how my posts are infrequent). Simply said, E3 this week! Unlike last week where I spent more time than I probably should have recapping the event, I decided to take out the bits that I have a big opinion on. Petz and pink colored consoles, who cares? I’m excited to see Dead Space 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and a plethora of surprises. We have the 3DS, the recently revealed new 360 model (which I probably won’t buy, but it does look nice), and whatever the PS3 has in store for us. Either Sony is being really secretive or all they have up their sleeves are sequels and the Move.

In any case, more game news is good news and I’m definitely going to be sticking around for the live feeds, if time permits anyways.

As for my infrequent posting, I’ll try to once again post more. Get my mind off some stress and free my thoughts. I do plan on blogging about my upcoming final film for ASU so that’ll be some interesting stuff, perhaps.

If this trailer is any indication as to how awesome the final film will be, then Edgar Wright has once again given me another reason as to why he’s one of my favorite directors. I haven’t read any of the graphic novels yet, and I don’t know if I want to before the movie is out. It’s not that I think it’ll cause me to be more critical of his work, but I don’t want to be spoiled with what happens. Though judging by the little comic book style sound FX actions on screen, I’m sure there will be plenty of little neat Easter eggs and references that are going to go right over my head.

A big chapter of my life has come to a close. That chapter is Lost. But can I really say it’s closed? Because days after the series finale, I’m still trying to figure out just what the hell is going on.

Lost’s big final episode aired this Sunday and it’s taken me some time to come to terms with it. Not just to terms with the fact that one of the greatest shows EVER is now over, leaving an empty void in my life, but to come to terms with the conclusion we were ultimately given. It wasn’t what I wanted, not by a long shot, but strangely enough, it was this greatly satisfying end that I would have never seen coming.

I’m going to start with the good solely because the bad, while not necessarily bad in any sense of the word, requires a bit more thought and a bit more reflection. The good was simply the ‘is what it is,’ with no thought beyond the fact that damn, that was a great moment. So we have such moments as the final showdown with Man in Black and Jack, an epic battle that was a long time coming. After disabling whatever power source that fueled MIB’s invincibleness, Jack caught up with him and the duel begins with a more than appropriate leap into the air as Jack’s fists comes down on Locke before…COMMERCIAL! (more…)

The latest Inception trailer that played in front of Iron Man 2 is now out and about on the internet!

Frankly, I still have no idea what the hell is going on, but with Christopher Nolan on board along with an amazing cast, I can’t think of any reason to doubt this movie. Always a fan of the mindfucks so come July 16th, bring it!

Sad times today. I’m saying goodbye to one great service and a potentially great but dead before its time product.

First up, the great service that I stumbled onto last year is Lala.com. It offered the ability to listen to full length music from a HUGE variety of artists while offering a 30 second preview upon a second listen. It was great way to preview music. If you could think of it, they probably will have it (for the most part). What I found to be an extremely great use of the service was the fairly decent soundtrack collection they had.

Unfortunately, they were purchased by Apple back in December and this day was inevitable. There’s no telling what Apple is going to do with the acquisition and I would love it if they offered a cloud service and full length previewing of an album for free like Lala.com, but this is Apple after all. Free doesn’t exist in their vocabulary. Lala.com officially closes on May 31st.

Secondly, the Microsoft Courier is officially dead. Announced not even a year ago, the two-screen, book-like tablet sounded great. It’s was essentially productivity on the go. Create notes, take pictures, write a journal, and use the internet, maps and contacts. Sure, the iPad can do all that, but it was just the way you would navigate this device that seemed so fluid and would be great for the creative minds.

But not even a year later, Microsoft ended the project. There could be all sorts of reasons for this as we never truly got a real life look at the product. The touch response could have been horrible, the OS it would use might have been an issue. The cost might have been too expensive. Or maybe it just never reached the set bar of the concept.

T'was beautiful.

So unfortunately the potential of this device will not be met. I would’ve loved carrying this around and getting things done, but I suppose this device would’ve been very niche. No keyboard, no Windows 7 so how they would distribute applications is unknown. Then there’s battery life, and the screen resolution. It’s a lot to figure out and I suppose I prefer no product over a disappointing one.
